Billy Ruane.
No one will do that dance move now. Billy, you were fully actualized, individuated and ready to disrupt with your enthusiasm, vim and vigor. You will be missed.

I only have three memories of Billy Ruane, local Boston music promoter and superfan:
On 11/15/2009, Billy went up onstage at The Paradise to pump up the crowd before Jesus Lizard returned for their encore. I think David Yow introduced him as his dad. Then Billy did a fucking flip. With a drink in hand.
On 07/08/2010 at a Hallelujah the Hills show at Great Scott, Billy is front-and-center and he is flipping out at my favorite song of theirs, “Put The Gurus In Charge”. It made me wonder if Boston crowds used to be more animated like Billy.
On 09/11/2010 at the Starlab “End Of Summer” Yard Sale/BBQ/Rock and Roll Show, a gathering of local artists and merchants at a self-run practice space/studio. Dude seemed to know everyone, and wound up buying pizza for the event.
And now the man has passed away, and it’s a total bummer knowing he won’t be seen at shows around town. Head to The Middle East tonight (the place that he helped put on the map) at 11pm for an impromptu get-together to celebrate his life.
